The West Point Insider Threat program supports the wider discussion accidental and intentional insider risk and insider threat in three ways: Operational, Academic, and Research. Through the “operations” thrust, the program supports the Army and, more broadly the Department of Defense with work and products that are immediately relevant to the manner in which the enterprise does its work. The Academic thrust provides a level of abstraction in which discuss the industry-accepted general theory underlying insider risk, insider threat, and the prevention, protection, and mitigation of both. Through the Research thrust, the program seeks to extend knowledge of contemporary thought processes, tools, policies, and procedures beyond what is to what can be.

The West Point Insider Threat Program provides support to the Army and Department of Defense that supports the mission of both to reduce risk likelihood, prevent and protect against insider threat activity, and mitigate effects of action that does manifest.

The West Point Insider Threat Program engages in the comprehensive discussion of insider risk and insider threat to enable a contemporary understanding of both independently, as well as their interactions with each other.

The West Point Insider Threat Program supports the extension of the current state of knowledge in the fields of insider risk and insider threat by supporting undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral research.
